Water Temperature & Quality
Historically, the water temperature has been around 76-78 degrees, so the swim will likely be wetsuit legal. Information regarding the water temperature will be posted in the news section of this website as the event date approaches.
Finish Line Medical - Presented by Medicine In Motion
The finish line medical tent is staffed by High Five Events Medical Director, Dr. Martha Pyron. Dr. Pyron, founder of Medicine in Motion, is board certified in Family Practice and Sports Medicine and a former team physician for Penn State University and the University of Texas at Austin.
The finish line medical tent is supplied to treat common triathlon related injuries and illness, and to begin stabilization procedures for more severe problems. Any race participant who requests assistance will be evaluated in the medical tent and treated based on event protocols for athlete medical care. The medical team may authorize transportation to a nearby hospital in case of serious injury or illness, but will likely be able to manage any medical need an athlete will have including stitches, splints for injury, and bandages.
Weather Contingency Plan
In the event of foul weather, the start time of this event may be delayed by up to 1 hour. Should the weather conditions be unsafe for the swim, this event will be changed to a bike-run with distances of an 11.2 mile bike and a 2 mile run. The duathlon will use a time trial start based upon the swim wave order. If the weather makes it too dangerous for cycling, the event will become a 5 Km run for all participants.
This event will use USA Triathlon Age Group rules.
Swim Wave Order
The swim wave order will be posted as the event date approaches.
